not enough parking spaces – the unsolved problem at AGS

now that the new traffic scheme is in place and we have had a few weeks experience with it, my conclusion is that the key problem at the parking lot is that there is not enough parking spaces for all the cars that go to ateneo to pick up AGS students. and that problem may have caused the tragic accident at the AGS parking lot.

 blue. parking at the drop off point where amiel was killed and beside the irwin theater are no longer allowed – all those cars that used to be parked there are now double/quadruple parked at the football fields and at the road beside katipunan road. 

these parking spaces are always full. on top of the cars that are parked inside  the white lines, are vehicles parked perpendicular to these cars on both sides of the road.  it has  now become more difficult and slower to pass through those roads. the double/quadruple parking now goes all the way past  near the pedestrian overpass that crosses katipunan road.

amiel was killed as he crossed that road to reach their car which was parked at the drop-off area. the van that killed him was also parked there. the death was caused as small boys and moving vehicles were mixed in the same space. boys then were allowed to cross that drop off area in between cars that were parked or moving.

having not enough parking spaces based on comments from parents on this blog have been a perennial problem. some parents here have said CPRs have been bringing up that problem with ateneo school officials but obviously no action has been taken.

that problem still remain.  i hope the ateneo admin know that. what this new traffic scheme did was it just moved the problem of lack of parking spaces from the old location to a new spot – from the drop off areas and beside irwin theater to the parking areas at the football fields and the road beside katipunan.

in other words and i hope it does not happen – what this new traffic scheme did is it removed the danger of an accident at the drop off areas but transferred it to the football field and road near katipunan parking areas.

AGS students do walk to those areas to ride into their cars. in that same area we still see AGS students mixed in the same space as moving vehicles, only in this space it is more crowded which makes it even worst.

we think there is unfinished business at the AGS parking lot.

Anti-Child Pornography Bill in congress – pass this one, not cha-cha

this bill is much more worthwhile than the congressmen spending time on cha-cha. cha-cha has no value to the country. this anti-child pornography bill will benefit the country much more than cha-cha.

cha-cha is something nobody wants while this is something everyone, specially pinoy children need.

Tell them that it’s urgent If there is one great thing that President Gloria Arroyo can do with her awesome power in the Philippines is to use it for the well-being and protection of vulnerable children. All she has to do in her State of the Nation Address on July 27 to win a place in legal history is to tell her Congress that the Anti-Child Pornography Bill is “urgent.”

All the Representatives have to do is to vote “yes” and they will save thousands of children from rape and abuse in the years to come. That alone will be enough for the Congress to pass this bill, the Senate version has already been approved.

It’s very shameful that the Philippines, a nation where the vast majority of children are loved, cherished and protected by their families that the State has failed in its obligations under international treaties and protocols to protect them by law from the sexual abuse that is inevitable in the making and distribution of child pornography.

This is a moral issue of the highest order; the dignity of the nation is at stake before the world.

For all the hasty preparations, hand-wringing over security, breathless media competition to scoop details and soul-wrenching performances, the essence of Michael Jackson’s memorial service came down to 20 poignant, powerful seconds: the moment when 11-year-old Paris-Michael Jackson inched up to the microphone and, in a statement no one saw coming, referred to the late pop superstar as “Daddy.”It was a remarkably humanizing moment. Then again, it was remarkable just to see Jackson’s three children in public to begin with.

A fiercely protective father, Jackson rarely brought his brood out into public, covering their faces in veils and party masks to protect their identity when he did.

Now here they were, unveiled, before an audience of thousands at Staples Center and millions more around the globe. Starting out seated in the front row, the three youngest Jacksons eventually joined the rest family onstage as the two-hour service wound to a close.

Dressed in the same dark suits and yellow ties as the rest of the Jackson men, 12-year-old Michael Joseph Jr., known as Prince Michael, chewed gum and toted the memorial service program; 7-year-old Prince Michael II, known as Blanket, held his program and clutched a Michael Jackson doll.

Paris, wearing a black dress with white trim, turned a small patent-leather purse over in her hands as other family members spoke. And then a dramatic hush fell over the crowd as family members whispered that the little girl, whose lifetime of public exposure amounted to a small handful of paparazzi photographs, Paris-Michael wanted to say something.

She furtively emerged from the tight circle of family members, who rushed to lower the microphone to her level. And with her uncle Randy on one side and aunt Janet on the other, Jackson’s little girl stood center stage.

“I just wanted to say,” Paris began weakly.

“Speak up, sweetheart, speak up,” Janet encouraged, sweeping the girl’s long hair back. “And get close.”

Paris put one hand behind her neck, another on the microphone, and began again.

“Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine,” she said, her tiny voice cracking.

Rebbie and Marlon Jackson moved in closer to comfort their niece. She shut her eyes tight.

Then she wrapped her hands — little fingernails painted red — around the microphone and fought back tears as she continued: “And I just wanted to say I love him — so much.”

She collapsed in tears into her aunt’s arms.

“It’s OK, baby. It’s OK,” Janet Jackson said as she held Paris close. Prince joined in on the hug.

And all at once, Jackson wasn’t the larger-than-life King of Pop, or Wacko Jacko the tabloid freak. He was a doting father who had left three adoring young children behind.

He was “Daddy.”

NBI probes hospital over ‘boob job’ leak

MANILA, Philippines—The National Bureau of Investigation Monday started its investigation of the leak about the breast augmentation procedure that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo reportedly underwent in a posh hospital in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

A senior NBI official said NBI agents went to Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang and interviewed “at least three medical staff.”

The official agreed to talk on condition of anonymity as he was not authorized to share the details of the investigation with the media.

He said it was the Department of Justice that ordered the NBI to “identify” the individuals who leaked the information to the media.

no sex, just lies, no video tape on gloria macapagal arroyo’s breast implants

well, yes malacanang admitted president gloria macapagal arroyo has brest implants. they first denied it, then later on admitted to it.

first of all this whole thing became a controversy because malacanang was caught telling a lie. arroyo having breast implants and that they leaked on her and that was the reason she checked herself into the hospital was first reported by jarius bondoc. the press secretary cerge remonde denied the breast implant part.

the official reason they stated for checking herself into the Asian Hospital was for self-quarantine but it turned out tests were made and the report about the breast implant story. malacanang later on admitted these tests and the fact that arroyo did have breast implants in the 80s.

in other words, malacanang was caught lying! again! if they did not lie the first time, it would have been less of a problem and no smoke must have formed out of this.

MANILA, Philippines — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) raided on Friday afternoon the office of a website in Cavite that was said to have first uploaded the sex videos of cosmetic surgeon Hayden Kho.

A team from the NBI Anti-Fraud and Computer Crimes Division (AFCCD) swooped down on the office of fleshasiadaily.com in Bacoor, Cavite and took in three people for questioning.

Vicente de Guzman III, chief of the NBI-AFCCD, identified the three men who maintain the site as Fidel Lazarte and sons Marvin and Jobert Lazarte.

Fleshasiadaily.com was the first to introduce the sex videos of Kho and actress Katrina Halili dancing to the tune of Careless Whisper, Kho and model Maricar Reyes, and a third video entitled Beautiful Girl, Head Agent Palmer Mallari told reporters.

He said the website registered 1.2 million hits every day, an indication that more than one million people viewed the sex videos daily.

this has been a long time coming. every pinoy, and i mean that literally, who has a cellphone know that these telcos have been abusing and have been unfair to consumers. they steal our load, send us promos we don’t want and gives it to us in every way. we have known that but there was nothing we can do about it. until now that is.

our knight in shining armor is senator juan ponce enrile who took it upon himself to give to the telcos for screwing consumers. well, we knew the senator was telling a lie, but we did not mind, it really was a white lie and we all love him for it.

Telcos ordered: Triple ‘load’ life

MANILA, Philippines — Bowing to pressure from lawmakers, telecommunications regulators are set to compel mobile phone firms to treble the shelf life of prepaid credits amid persistent complaints of “vanishing load” from the public.

The rules, expected to be approved by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Friday, will also require telecommunications companies (telcos) to maintain a record of phone call details for prepaid users and make these available to them for free, upon request.

Under the new NTC rules, a prepaid load of P10 or less will have a three-day validity period, compared with the present policy of both Smart Communications and Globe Telecom of having credits in this bracket expire after only 24 hours.

At the highest end of the range, credits of P600 to P1,000 will have a validity of 180 days from the time they are loaded into a prepaid user’s account.

This represents a 200-percent increase in load shelf life from the present policy of Smart and Globe to have a maximum validity of only 60 days.

All load brackets in between these amounts will also experience increased shelf life, depending on the size of the credits.

“The expiration or validity of prepaid loads shall correspond to the amount of loads purchased,” said the NTC draft circular. “The higher the prepaid loads, the longer is the expiration or validity period.”

Under the new scheme, credits of P10 to P20 will be valid for 7 days; over P20 to P30 for 10 days; over P30 to P40 for 14 days; over P40 to P50 for 17 days; over P50 to P60 for 20 days; over P60 to P70 for 24 days; over P70 to P80 for 21 days; over P80 to P100 for 30 days; over P100 to P150 for 45 days; over P150 to P200 for 60 days; over P200 to P300 for 90 days; and over P300 to P600 for 150 days.

“The validity period starts upon receipt of confirmation of the prepaid loads purchased,” said the draft circular. “Call data records shall be made available to the prepaid users upon request free of charge.”

It also mandates that access to balance inquiry service through text messages shall be at no cost to the consumer.
