UPCAT Results 2011 3rd update, january 3, 2011; as of 9:30 am – delay in release of results, website changed to say 1st week january

3rd update, Jan 3, 9:30 am –  the results website of the UPCAT has been changed as of this time, at 379,182 hits.

we still don't know when the results will be released!

it now says results of the UPCAT will be released “1st Week of January, 2011″. they removed the specific date of January 3, 2011. (scroll down to see the original announcement that had a janaury 3, 2011 announcement date.)

this change is consistent with what we said in the 2nd update – that they did not know when they can release the results and that they were unaware the website announced a january 3 release.

how in the world didn’t they know about the january 3 announcement? don”t these people talk to each other? it’s really hard to understand for us on why they will announce a release date on the web if they were not sure they will be ready to do so on the date specified.

UP is a government run university, right?

we have a lesson learned here –  contrary to what we wrote at the 1st update, we should believe the security guard. it turned out she knew best. hahaha. the security guard did tell us they were not ready to release the results and they do not know when it will be released. this lady security guard was right on the money on the information.  they should promote this lady guard to work at the Office Of Admissions. kudos to the lady security guard!

if we were managing this thing, we would be doing it differently:

• will NOT give a vague announcement date
• instead will give a specific date and time for the announcement
• will choose a date and time that is comfortable, something that can be written in stone. that can be a date and time when things will be finished and add 1 extra day just in case last minute corrections need to be done.
• will apologize in the website for the delay, moving the release date from january 3 to  the new date. ( we find it strange that UP did not even make an apology on the delay at the website. they do not care?)

we think specifying a time and date is key to make amends to the disappointment felt by the test takers and their parents for the website announcing a date it was unable to fulfil.   we think announcing a vague sometime this week date does not completely make amends and makes UP  look worst than what it already was in missing the january 3 release announcement.

the waiting for a few days is something most can handle. it is not the waiting that is bad, it is the not knowing when it will come out that is the killer.

UPCAT RESULTS 2011 update, january 3, 2011; as of 8:30 am – expect delay of results release, date and time uncertain

2nd update, Jan 3, 8:30 am - wait a minute, UP is a state-run university. and that explains the latest update on the release of the results of the UPCAT. UP is behaving exactly like the way we know government agencies to be – inefficient, delayed and clueless.

at 8:30 am, we went back to the Office Of  Admissions. around 30 to 40 parents were there waiting in front of the office. a lady from the office emerged and talked to the crowd. here is what she said:

• UPCAT results for 2011 will not be posted at the Office of Admissions any time today
• it might be possible the results will be posted on the website tonight. but that is not certain.
• bottom line, they really do not know when they can release the results. a parent asked if it will not be posted today and they are unsure of a website posting tonight, then tomorrow morning is the sure thing. the lady from the admissions office said there are no guarantees.
• the lady said, they did not know who posted the announcement on the website that the results will be announced on january 3. the admissions office apparently was not aware of this date. (hahaha, that was hilariuous! growl!)
• for sure the admissions office as of that time do not yet have the list of those who made it.

1st update, Jan 3, 7:04 am - went to admissions office, no results posted yet. Security guard said results might not be released today. WTH??? We don’t believe her. Will be back 8 am.

tell me where are the UPCAT results? where?

this one posted here january 3, 2 am.

yes, just like you we waited for midnight of january 3 hoping we can view the results of the UPCAT 2011. after all, january starts at 12 midnight. but nope, we are not as lucky as at 1:30 am, with 187,241 hits on the site, no results yet.

this is  the site you can view the results, that is if it goes on line sometime today- http://upcat.up.edu.ph/results/. (there are also mirror sites)

just a few notes:

• tell us the truth – how many times did you hit the refresh button of those sites tonight?  well, we hit the refresh button every so often. haha
• there are rumors going around that the names will be posted at UP starting at 6am january 3 and the online version gets posted online later, around 10. THOSE ARE NOT OFFICIAL. those are rumors. so, please don’t hang our neck if that does not happen. these times were the hours the results appeared last year. we don’t know what times it will be this year.

here are scenarios:

• there are two people involved in releasing the UPCAT results – the IT Dude (ITD) and the Bulletin Board Guy (BBG)
• what gets released first is dependent on the time ITD and BBG goes to work tomorrow at UP. we think at the earliest, these things can be posted both at the bulletin board and online by 9am. people in UP go to work at 8am. some breakfast or coffee first, then they do their work. that we think can take 1 hour.
• if we are to believe the rumor that the names get posted at 6am at UP, that means BBG is a hard working guy. to make that happen at 6am, he needs to go to work at 5am.
• are IT dudes early worms? we think not.
