To Mr. And Mrs. Jose Alcantara and to the Family,
First thing formost, in behalf of my family we would like give you our deep condolenses to your Family of what really happened to Amiel. As a father, I know its hard to accept to ourselves of whats gonna happend to our kids specially to Amiel. But sometimes we need to understand why GOD created everyone of us in this world, what’s the reason and what is the purpose. Now I know as a human being we missed him (Amiel) so much, the happiest moments with him when he was there. But now he’s too much happy under GODs hand and watching over you and your family from this moment of your life. The grief, the pain is there and always be there but it will affect everybody, but to accept and give everything to GODs hand without blaming anybody it will give you peace and understanding for the sake of your family. I agree of what you’ve said to the parents like me, help each other and talk to the Ateneo Grade School Admin. to upgrade their facilities or do some changes in policy or procedures when it comes to dismissal of their students to avoid any kind of incidents like this again. And to the Teacher, we are pleased you to help your students to understand what is the used and importance of Pedestrian Lanes, always reminds them after your class and before dismissal.
We and my family, praying you and your family to overcome all the pains that you have right now.
I’m Billy Prejula, a father of Grade School students of Ateneo (Gr.1) and currently working here in California. My wife called me right away when the incidents happened , though she was there to pick up our son too.
GOD Bless your Family!! and your New ANGEL Amiel watching over his Brother and Sister and his Loving Mom and Dad….
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Alcantara and Children,
Amiel’s story has touched me and my family deeply. We hope that you will find peace in the thought that your Amiel now walks with the Lord in heaven.
My whole family will continue to pray for Amiel and your family.
Sincerely,
Mario Ledesma
THANKS AMIEL…
I came from UP and not from Ateneo and I am a father as well but my son is not an ATENISTA but from Lourdes School of Mandaluyong. I write because what had happened to AMIEL was something that made me realizes a lot of things not just about the incident but about FATHERHOOD.
The story focuses on AMIEL’s FATHER as well as a FATHER & SON school activity has been nearing. We as fathers may not at all be so showy and emotional to our sons because of being pre-occupied with our roles as providers and heads of our families but then this has made me re-think that our focus no matter what should always be with our kids – with our family.
Each day counts. I often would kiss my son and tell him how I love him being the only child. I could just imagine how painful it is for AMIEL’s FATHER to have bid farewell to his son after breakfast as a normal daily routine without expecting that moment was their last. I cried while driving home.
I must have heard the news late but I cannot stop thinking about it. Imagine a school so expensive where you expect that traffic enforcers are regulating the flow of vehicles because kids from known and from ordinary families are around the place which they have to protect, but then there is none.
I have not heard in any of the news article about the school having its own ambulance or experienced in-house medics attending to the need of the child. It was the lady whom we all do not know who volunteered to help the child and the driver to take them to the hospital.
Worse is that as mentioned, no one even wanted to open their doors for the driver who was walking and carrying the bloodied child for help. It is sad. Imagine how people can be heroes in the split of a second and how some chooses to be numb and careless. Why? Is it because they do not want to stain their nice car’s interiors? Too bad.
I do not intend to blame or raise issues here. The point here is that all we all as parents are responsible for our kids. More so, as drivers, we too are responsible to ensure that we maintain safety and caution. Now, we can never revert things back. We need to move forward and learn from this. AMIEL’s life has a good purpose indeed and that is to awaken us all about safety, care, time and love for our kids.
As I reached home, I asked for my son. He was again playing hide and seek with me as usual. I searched for all the possible hiding places until I found him. I never asked him about his school works or about what the day’s news were on BANDILA as he is fond of watching news. No words were said at all… I just hugged my son so tight and kissed him so many times as tears fall.
I love my son and I would not want such a thing to happen to him even when he is already old and on his own. From Day 1 until now that he has grown up as a 9-year old boy, I still carry him whenever we do malling and he would say “Dad, pakarga!” while massaging my back as a consolation. I love my son and I know you all are the same with yours.
Thus, as I write this, I am writing to the officials of Lourdes School of Mandaluyong as well to improve pedestrian safety and proper parking regulations and perhaps put PEDESTRIAN LANES and MARKINGS along SHAW BLVD. and in front of CITYLAND SHAW TOWER to ensure safety. Police Officers should also be stationed near schools and that educational institutions be requred to have their own ambulances and people experienced in providing medical attention. It’s time for all of us to improve things and move on.
Thank you AMIEL for waking us up. You will forever be remembered in our hearts as a son and as the pupil who touched our hearts to value life and family more.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Jose Alcantara and children,
My wife and I would like to extend our most profound sympathies to you and your family for the untimely loss of your son AMIEL.
Based on what I had gathered from the news and blogs, like you, I am a father of three. I also have 2 boys and 1 girl – my youngest son being 12 years old. I am deeply moved by what has happened, and I have lost count of the number of times I had shed tears everytime I read any related news and developments on it. Yet, I am sure that the grief that my wife and I feel is miniscule compared to that of yours.
I believe that all things happen for a reason and why they happen to certain people. In view of this tragic incident, I submit the belief that it happened to you because God knows that you and your family will have the inner peace and strength to accept it, the wisdom to find a good and bright purpose behind it, and most of all the unwavering faith to move on and show everyone, especially the weak in spirit, that according to God’s plan there is always hope after any tragedy.
Amiel’s example has reminded all of us in a crystal clear way how life is both fleeting yet very precious at the same time. His example has also taught us that we must cherish and treasure each single moment we spend with our loved ones, for there is no telling how little time we or they have left. This, I believe, is one of the reasons for Amiel’s sudden departure.
Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Alcantara for bringing Amiel into this world and for nurturing him into a wonderful boy that we hear he was.
It is amazing and truly inspiring how such a young little boy can teach us grown-ups so much about time, life, and the urgent need to fill them with love.
Thank you AMIEL.

Dear Mr & Mrs. Alcantara,
Today is the Father and Son night of our precious Grade 4 boys, and at this time ( it’s 3:30pm) my thoughts are still with you and your family. I never fail to shed tears whenever I read or hear about the circumstances as well as the reactions of people about this very painful accident. I feel as though I lost my own son, it’s very heartwrenching. I do admire you and your wife ( I was able to speak to her on the first day of the wake) for your composure and your steadfastness during this time of gief. You are such pillars of strength! Amiel must be very happy and proud to look down upon you and see his parents so strong and determined to not let this break you but instead help to ensure that what happened to him shall serve a higher purpose– to serve as an inspiration make the Ateneo community a safer ( if not the safest) campus for our children.
My wish for you and your children is that you will be able to get through this time and come out stronger and have a much closer bond as you help each other cope with your loss. We shall miss your presence tonight during the Father and Son night (our sections are groupmates for the presentation). Know that our prayers are with you and Amiel as he starts his eternal life with his Father in heaven. May God bless you and your family…

Dear Mr. Mrs Jose Alcantara and family,
I am extending my sincere and deep condolonce for the loss of Amiel.
My only child is a grade 2 student of De La Salle Canlubang in Binan, Laguna and i feel the pain of losing a child and I cried when i heard the news. From Binan Laguna and before started seeing patients as a Pediatric cardiologist, I went to the wake of your son last Saturday morning. I cant help crying as I read the pieces of papers with his classmate comments about Amiel and the poem from a classmate.
Amiels death is a wake up call to all schools (public and private) and also to parents regarding safety of our kids in the school premises.
Rest assure that I am praying for your family and for the soul of Amiel.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Alcantara,
I would like to express my deepest condolences on the loss of your dear Amiel. I too lost my eldest son Zach Escudero he was 19 years old. 3 years ago for a cell phone just 2 minutes from my house. He just left and 15 minutes later was shot down at 6:45 a.m. near St. Scho. He was a 6 footer and was a jiujitsu student . Really makes no sense and never will Like Mr. Alcantara, we thought it would be just an ordinary day to school but they never came back. It is so true that God is not a good ware house person you couldnt have said it better it should be first one in is the first one out. So many Whys. Both our sons suffered sudden and tragic deaths. I will pray for you and your family and i have been since the incident. I texd you wife and I belong to INA foundation. I knew i couldnt get thru this alone. We are here for you just a tex away.May god bless you and give us all the strength to go on. I told Zach to watch over him.
Thank you ,
Baba A. Escudero
dear mr alcantara,
what happened to your child is indeed every parents’ worst nightmare. Any parent who really loves and cares for his child will be moved to tears upon reading the articles or seeing the news involving your son. I truly admire your strength. inspite the pain and anguish, you still managed to smile and talk with the people around you, most of which i’m sure you don’t know. I can only offer my prayers to you and your family. and always remember that God loves you so much. Keep believing.
Dear Pepe and family,
We extend to you our deepest sympathy. We pray for your healing and recovery. We know that we will never be able to fathom your grief.
From what we have heard and read, your son Amiel was great!
Surely, he is now with our Father.

Mr. and Mrs. Pepe Alcantara and Family,
IN behalf of the Lourdes School Community, our condolences and prayers for your son, Amiel. Surely, Amiel is too young to leave us but God must have His own reason in letting your son join HIm in HIs kingdom this early. Amiel and your family will always be in our prayers.
