police brutally arrests ted failon family members on deathbed of wife

we wrote about how important diligent police work will be in putting all the loose, seemingly unrelated pieces in the sensational case of the death of ted failon’s wife.

we were not very hopeful, we were expecting shoddy work, unanswered questions and speculation labeled as evidence. our expectations were low but we did not think it will be this bad.

the police arrested members of the failon family right outside the intensive care unit of the hospital where ted failon’s wife was fighting for her life. in fact the wife died making that as the police arresting the family members of failon right on her deathbed.

the police denies it, saying the arrests were not an overkill, not brutal but there are video clips of the arrest and pictures, specially videos speak a thousand words, a million in this case given that it is a video.

lets be blind to the videos for the moment, how can they justify the arrests when they did it in the hospital, outside the intensive care unit while the victim was on the last moments of her life?

they were arresting family members on the alleged crime of obstruction of justice, they are not even the “killers” of the victim of died. where is the gravity of the crime? where is the diligence and haste coming from? what is the rush for?

we should appreciate the fact that for once the police are acting quickly but this is not the kind of haste that we want them to do. in most cases the police we know act super slow, but we’re curious that at this instance, they acted super fast and please, on very minor supposed crime.

we are also offended by what the police said :

Senior Superintendent Franklin Mabanag said on Thursday night that his men were “calm” contrary to claims of Failon’s family and friends.

“All tactics are being deployed by them, from hysterics to dramatics,” Mabanag said.

the videos do not show anything calm about how they did it. and please, “hysterics and dramatics” employed by the family members is fully justified. they were being arrested on the deathbed of the victim, they did not have a warrant of arrest and they had guns – being hysterical and being dramatic we believe was not enough. the police deserve more than just hysterics and dramatics, they deserved violence, if we a member of the failon family.

for sure people need to go to jail on this one – the police.

Police ‘overkill’ probed
Failon kin arrest ‘brutal’ but cops deny claim

MANILA, Philippines – Is the Ted Failon case turning into a police overkill? Even the Philippine National Police (PNP) believes it to be so.

“There were reports, in fact news stories, shown on TV trying to portray that excessive use of force was displayed. And so the PNP chief deems it necessary to have this properly settled,” Bartolome said.

On Thursday night, the family of Ted Failon did not only lose Trinidad Trina Etong, his wife of 25 years.

They also saw for themselves what they called was the “construction of injustice” by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) after they arrested Etong’s siblings Maximo, Pamela and Me-ann.

From hysterics to dramatics

Moments later the police came out with a handcuffed man who still managed to tell reporters he was Max Arteche, Trina’s brother, despite being surrounded by the police.

Nearly an hour after, the police came out with Pamela, her relatives and their lawyers who shouted, “This is a warrantless arrest!” the moment they stepped out of the hospital door.

Senior Superintendent Franklin Mabanag said on Thursday night that his men were “calm” contrary to claims of Failon’s family and friends.

“All tactics are being deployed by them, from hysterics to dramatics,” Mabanag said.

Bakit niyo lininis yung crime scene…Di bat dapat ay tatawag ka ng autoridad agad agad… heto po dapat ang focus natin hustisya sa pagakamatay ng asawa… hindi yung hinahaluan niyo na pulitika.
