humility, class and respect are words that willie revillame does not know the meaning of. mayabang, bastos, egoistic and self-importance are words he knows based on the video in this post.
what he wanted done – removing the live shots of tita cory’s funeral march during his live show actually makes sense. showing sexy, scantily clad women cavorting on tv and screaming happy audience beside shots of a funeral march does not make sense. one hurts the other.
what does not make sense is willie asking for it to be removed on live tv and using the words he did.
what we find as a desecration of the memory of tita cory is not that he does not want sad and happy to be together on screen, it is that the live shots of tita cory’s funeral is a bother to him, a nuisance and an affront to his stature as a noontime tv host superstar.
it is all about his ego and his standing in the tv industry as one of the most popular noontime tv host. he felt he had the entitlement to demand the rest of the world, anything that reduces his star quality to be removed from his world. he has said this many times in this video – his only concern was his performance in his tv show, nothing more and nothing less.
the tv shots of cory’s funeral march was stifling his skills and performance like a pebble caught inside our shoe.
this nuisance, in this case shots of tita cory’s funeral march need to be removed from his world right at the moment he sees it. he cannot wait even for a few minutes when the show is off the air to talk to the director to have it removed on screen. the superstar status that he feels he has need to be obliged right at the moment he sees what tarnishes it.
if this was real life, if willie revillame is having a party in his home and it so happens his neighbor, the home right beside his is having a wake for a dead member of the family, we are sure willie revillame will go to his neighbor’s house and demand that the family remove the casket from their home and have the wake elsewhere far from his house. right now.
that is what we find as a desecration of tita cory’s memory.

watch the video again. what is most glaring in the video is that willie’s on-air rant is all about his ego. the only point he kept repeating was HE WAS NOT ABLE TO PERFORM the way he should because he can see the burial procession on screen.
it WAS NOT at all about giving respect to tita cory, the disrespect in showing scenes of happy moments in his show and the sadness of the funeral, but the disrespect he was seeing for himself.
he was saying he felt the funeral shots were disrespecting his star status as it was preventing him from doing well in his performance.

Aquino family spokeswoman rebukes Willie
MANILA – A spokeswoman of the Aquino family on Friday issued a strongly worded rebuke against “Wowowee” host Willie Revillame for ordering the removal of the video of President Corazon Aquino’s cortege, which was being beamed live simultaneously with the noontime show last Monday.
A statement from Dee Dee Siytangco, spokesperson of the Aquino family, read: “It is regrettable and a crass attempt to desecrate the memory of the beloved Tita Cory.”
On Monday a visibly irked Revillame ordered the immediate removal of the livestream video of Aquino’s cortege, which was being shown simultaneously with his show.
The controversial host explained that it was inappropriate to broadcast it while they were having fun inside the studio. He added that it would be hard for him to make the public happy when he could see on screen the casket of Mrs. Aquino.

My opinion… maybe he’s right mahirap magpasaya ng tao that momment, pero kala ko ba magaling sya!!! Ok fine what he did was not against tita Cory… pero ipinakita nya lang sa publiko ang pagiging “BASTOS” nya. Pwede naman kc syang makipag usap sa management during commercial hindi yong sa ere nya pa sinabi, bakit pinababayaan ng ABS CBN ang ganitong attitude ni Willy??? I believe 2 parties share the blame for this unpleasant incident. After reading about and getting various feedbacks about what happened in the Wowowee show, it would be fair to say that Willie Revillame and the Management of ABS-CBN are both on the wrong side. Willie because of the way he expressed himself although as I viewed the youtube file here, it was obvious that he was addressing someone from the network as he kept repeating ”nyo” which to me meant that this someone from the network may have insisted that the show should go on live while they inserted footage of the funeral cortege. ABS-CBN should have had the wisdom to just air the footage instead of Wowowee. I understand the point of Willie that it would be very hard to project happiness in the show given the circumstances, however it was this natural way of expressing himself in a coarse manner that irked so many people. The network has an equal obligation to rectify the mistake caused by the insensitivity of their decision to air a game show and Tita Cory’s funeral cortege at the same time.

however, i think what mmade everything obviously bad was revillame’s behavior. he very much called attention to it and in a most unprofessional and disrectful manner.

We witnessed how Mr. Willie Revillame disregarded the public by airing his Wowowee show while the funeral of Cory was transferred from De La Salle Greenhills to Manila Cathedral last Monday. It was a shame. While the country wants to witness the history unfolding upon the death of Pres. Cory Aquino, Mr. Revillame was only pre-occupied with his work, which we all know earns a multi-millon peso per day of show.
With due respect, Ma’am Charo Santos Concio and Sir Gabby Lopez, you owe the coming back of ABS-CBN to no less than Pres. Cory Aquino when she gave it back to the Lopez family after the EDSA 1986 Revolution.
I think Mr. Revillame should know this. Yet inspite of giving apologies to the Aquino family and to the Filipino people, he sounded with arrogance and conceit.
We urge you, that you should removeMr. Revillame from the network . His attitude is a shame and injustice to Pres. Cory, the Filipino people and to the network she herself restored. Revillame claims that “his conscience was clear”. Wasn’t he aware of what was going on that day? Wasn’t he aware that a former President who restored freedom and democracy has died? Wasn’t he aware that the network Mr. Revillame is working with through his Wowowee was restored by the late President Aquino?
If your network is sincere in covering the funeral rites, procession and burial of Pres. Aquino and is truly KAPAMILYA, removing Mr. Revillame from ABS-CBN will give justice to Pres. Cory, the Filipino people and the network.

Well, the issue is not being sensationalized. All this time every single one of Revillame’s unwarranted comments, insults and tantrums were taken as serious offense by a great majority of the Filipinos all over the world (take note – all over the world). It just so happened that this time around, the use of the Internet has become more popular and accessible over the past decade when there was a gap or a “lull” of something major like this from Revillame’s end. Meaning, people have, finally, an easier means to release their disgust and abomination that have snowballed and provoked this huge global torch-wielding mob who’s had enough! That, I believe, was as easy as putting two and two together.
And for this to be mistaken as a manifestation of “Crab Mentality” is utterly idiotic. Do you honestly believe that people are jealous of where Revillame is right now? No, this is not about “Crab Mentality”. This is about an opportune time for the exploited Filipinos, directly or indirectly,

I cannot believe that Revillame is nonchalant about the ever-growing animosity from the Filipino viewers. Is he living in oblivion? I’m almost scared for his own security there. He’s becoming too arrogant probably becuase of the fame and power he is getting from his show. He feels He is God the way he treats his staff. Maybe most of the wowowee staff are more relieved now that he is no longer reporting for work. It’s really a pitiful sight when he starts to bullshit his employees when they commit mistakes. I hope he realiZes his mistakes . . may panahon pa para siya magbago. He cannot take his money when he die. Wag niya itong masayadong ipagmalaki. Maybe kung gaano kalaki ang pera niya ay ganun din kalaki ang ulo niya. Really money can be a source of evil for Willie. Goodbye and good ridance.
Noon pa man ay mayabang nayan, sinuwerte nga lang pero hindi yan ang dahilan para mantrato ka nang mahihirap na para mo na lang pinaglalaruan. Saan ba siya nanggaling walang wala na man siya noon bakit ganon na lang ang laki nang ulo dahil ba sa suwerte niya ngayon may “KARMA” sa mga taong abusado. Hindi man wala siyang paglalagyan sa langit dahil sa mga panloloko niya sa mga mahihirap. Isa siyang bastos hindi ba niya alam na si President Cory Aquino ang nag pabalik ng ABS-CBN sa mga Lopez. Sino ba ang employer niya hindi ba Lopez sino ba ang gumagastos sa mga pabuya sa WOWOWIE hindi ba galing sa mga Lorez. Ang kapal ng mukha mo Willie para ipamukhang ikaw ang gumagastos sa perang ipinabubuya sa mahihirap. Bakit hindi mo muna tulungan ang familia mo bago mo sabihin tumutulong ka sa mahihirap. This is the problem with most people when it comes to money, they forget all the wrong doings. They think that this person is so nice and generous that is not true. Please wake up open your eyes and tell me if what he did is right. Is he planning to run for the coming election that is why he is making alot of campaigning, no wonder naging guest nya si Villar at namigay pa ng bahay para sa darating na election. Bagay sila dahil pareho silang mukhang pera. I really like WOWOWIE and it is not because of willie but the pilipino shows mabuti pa nga gna yon at nakikita mong nagenenjoy sila sa wowowie dahil wala ang mayabang at mahilig manakot na sa mga employee. Time comes when things needs to be corrected. I am with alot of people to terminate this person and not to allow this kind of attitude being aired in times of mourning for a President who sacrifice for all pilipino people.
I totally agree with you. I like (or maybe used to like) Wowowee for whatever the show is (was) worth but without Willie. His remarks make me so sick to my stomach I could vomit. ABS-CBN tries so hard to be global and competent in international market and yet puts an unsophisticated jester like Willie in the forefront. Thanks to the rumors of him running for the next elections – he validates my need to leave my birth country I so love. HIYANG-HIYA ako sa mga banat ni Willie on air. Basta mag joke yan nanliliit ako sa kinauupuan ko bilang Pinoy. I’m glad I don’t know him personally or that he belongs neither to my family nor to my circle. The man needs some serious counseling.
i agree with your observation that wowowee is much better now when revillame is not in the show. it has become just wholesome and fun.
the tv ratings of the show has not suffered without revillame in the show. he is not needed.
la union babe, ang taong masama ang ugali ay lalong sumasama kung wala kang gagawin para itama. kung walang mag rereklamo sa kabastusan nya, walang magtutuwid ng mga mali nya. kung tayo ay tatahimik na lang, paano malalaman ang mga kamalian.
siguro naman alam mo na kung bakit ang tao ay umaalma, ito ay para ituwid ang mga kamalian.

You Filipinos are so narrow minded. I would be very uneasy doing the show, laughing and etc. while Cory’s funeral or what have you is being broadcast in front of my eyes. I agree with Willie 100%. If I was Willie I would say…turn it off during the show and turn it on during the commercial instead. Kaya walang progresso and Pilipinas eh….

I just want to ask some question to all of you who wrote about willie, kung nasa gitna kayo ng kasiyahan, tama ba na haluan eto ng kalungkutan? Kung ako nasa katayuan ni Willie, sasabihin ko rin po yun, nagkataon lang na pangit na ang image ni Willie kaya marami kayong nagalit sa reaction niya. Subukan nyo pong ibang tao ang nagdeliver ng message nya, palagay nyo kaya everybody will sent a comments about that person. Mas bastos kaya ang ipakita mong masayang masaya kayo habang may pinapakitang inililibing ng oras na yun..PAG-ISIPAN NYO!
