ABS-CBN backs Willie Revillame; says Wowowee host did not disrespect the memory of cory aquino

 letter from abs0-cbn to MTRCB:

It is ABS-CBN’s position that there was no disrespect of the dead by Mr. Revillame. When the funeral cortege of former President Aquino was shown as an inset during Wowowee, Mr. Revillame expressed his opinion of the inappropriateness of the simultaneous exhibition of both the funeral cortege and Wowowee, and his preference that only one or the other be shown.

In expressing his opinion and preference, though, Mr. Revillame did not show disrespect for former President Aquino. In fact, the contrary is true. In making his statements, Mr. Revillame wanted to give due respect to former President Aquino and her funeral cortege.

Indeed, in Filipino culture, customs, and tradition, ceremonies involving the dead are solemn and sober. Thus, the laughter, jokes, and happiness usually seen in a program like Wowowee would appear to be inappropriate when viewed together with the funeral cortege. On the one hand, the Filipino people are mourning the death of a loved and respected former President, and on the other hand, Wowowee is trying to entertain its audience.

It appears, therefore, that Mr. Revillame’s issue was with the inappropriateness of Wowowee and the funeral cortege being shown together, and not with the funeral cortege itself. While it may be argued that Mr. Revillame could have expressed his thoughts in a better way and that it would have been better to raise them privately, instead of the public manner in which he did, such was not disrespectful of the dead and does not constitute an offense under the KBP Broadcast Code of the Philippines.

of course the netwrok will find a loop hole in this incident, never the less willie took his remarks in his personal note, saying the public wants to be happy while morning in president aquino’s death, only 0.9 percent of the filipino population is interested in his show…everybody else wants to see whats happening in president aquino’s funeral.

willie abuse his position as an entertainer…not to mention his making his asf dancer dance the “giling-giling” in a sexual way … no body is saying anything about that..phornagrahphy at its peak!

2007 Broadcast Code of the Philippines

Article 17. QUIZ SHOWS, CONTESTS, PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROGRAMS AND PROMOTIONS
Sec. 4. Performers in programs shall always observe decency and proper decorum. (S)

    [S for Serious Offense]

    —–

Did Mr. Revillame exhibit proper decorum when he aired his grievance on-cam and in front of a live audience?

While it is true that he has a valid point and may prove to be a correct one, the manner he displayed his anger was objectionable and very much uncalled for.

I certainly beg to disagree to what Ms. Vidanes wrote in her letter.

The most important is Willie is helping the very poor with his simple antics though sometimes his actions and comments are not not acceptable. Due to his limited education as I had read, the masses love him and that is what our Lord Jesus said “Help the poor”.
I would like to hear from Willie-
Willie, sulatan mo ako kung hinde ka maka pag e-mail. Kasing edad mo and mga 7 anak ko at gusto kong malaman mo na ipinag dadasal kita.

This comment is being directed to ABS-CBN management:

I belong to the silent majority, and has been a TFC subscriber since it’s
inception here in the United States.
Before, I used to watch only TFC News, the rest of the shows are boring,
no fun,no jokes, do not make you laugh, nothing about helping the common tao
and their problems, since I was also one of them before.
When Wowowee came in 2005,being a mixture shows like the wheel of fortune, the prize is right, comedy(which makes you laugh) and other shows.
This show has caught my attention and has been watching since then on.
Being a comedy,(so long as it is not X rated not like here in the U.S.)
hurting somebody’s feelings but the truth hurts, should inspire the contestant to
try to correct their deficiencies. These actions should not be construed as
being offensive. As I see it the system here in the U.S. is different that of the Philippines.
To solved this problem, the show should be edited, one show for the Philippine Viewers and another show for the rest.(and rated)
The present show is boring and not helping those people who are in need.
    Lastly,kindly enforce your KAPAMILYA MOTTO.

    Respectfully,
    Victorio C. Rodriguez M.D.

This is a follow up comments to ABS-CBN management with regards
    to Wowowee.

As I see it, the ratings of WOWOWEE has significantly gone down.
The show has lost it’s appeal. I think management should address
this as soon as possible, unless they wanted the show to just fade
away and be substituted by another show. The whole problem is, if I
am right, similar shows will infringe the trademark show of Wowowee.

I would appreciate to hear their opinion.

    Thank you

Recent speculations is that Willie Revillame is coming back to Wowowee.

I laud this gesture if done by the management of ABS-CBN.

There are three groups of viewers. The conservatives, independents, and the liberal groups. As always the silent majority are usually the moderates and the independents. The vocal groups are the minority groups.

Instead of cancelling my subscription to the TFC, I recently added GMA pinoy7.
At least you have an alternative station, and you can compare the 2 stations.

Those who hates a particular show should also do the same, as I did.
Get at least 2 stations. Do not keep on threatening that you will cancell
your subscription if you do not like the show or host.
